Charities - How to Choose

Charities, how to choose. There are so many out there. My rule of thumb has always been to donate to those companies to where you know majority of the proceeds go to those in need.
I used to make a study of charities to research them, test them to verify that the funds go where the company says the funds are going. Here is my list of tried and true companies and organizations that are worth giving to, and trust that you will be helping another. I have more, but I will list my top three for now. Feel free to list those that you know are tried and true charities as well.
- World Vision - You can sponsor a child or make a general donation. http://www.worldvision.org/

- Children's Hunger Fund
Forbes.com reports Children's Hunger Fund as holding near perfect efficiency ratings in their list of American charities. More than 99% of revenue goes to programs serving children in need.
